(2021 3rd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2021-12-09) Silva, P.H.D.D.; Sudasinghe, S.A.V.D.; Hansika, P.D.U.; Gamage, M.P.; Gamage, M.P.A.W.
E-learning is a form of providing education by using electronic devices. Lack of proper mechanisms for encouraging and assisting students are key issues faced by many students in an e-learning environment. The ‘Vidu Mithuru’ is a question-based e-learning application which has been developed as a solution to overcome these problems. This mobile application will auto generate and categorize the questions, evaluate the answers and track the performance while providing motivational quotes by detecting the emotions of the student. This mobile application is based on Neural Networks, Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning concepts. In order to developing this application, the information provided by the primary education professionals was used to comply with the standards. The core objective of the proposed solution is to track the performance level and assist the students to improve in their studies while keeping them motivated. The trained Machine Learning models have achieved the accuracy of 75%, 78%, 99% and 86% for question categorization model, speech emotion detection model, facial emotion detection model and model to evaluate answers as respectively. We have received favorable responses as the results after testing the developed ‘Vidu Mithuru’ mobile application

A Mobile App for Location Based Customer Notifications about Sales Offers
(2019 1st International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2019-12-05) Saluwadana, R.B.; Hemachandra, K.A.N.W.; Jayasinghe, L.M.R.; Ahnaf Hassanar; Gamage, M.P.
Nowadays merchants’ focus on sending specifics about their sales offers to prospective customers through electronic means. But customers are neutral about those messages if they are away from those shops. Therefore, the authors decided to implement a mobile application to send location-based sales offer notifications to customers in order to overcome this problem, with some additional features. The main features in the proposed system are to filter out sales offer details from social media, send location-based notifications containing details of offers to customers, provide personalized search predictions during search, and provide recommendations to merchants to improve their business. Modern technologies like Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) are used to build the solution for this problem. The main advantage of the proposed system is that customers are attracted more towards the sales offers since they receive them when they are close by to the relevant shop. Also, merchants can reach targeted customers resulting in a more effective marketing campaign. The survey conducted proved that both customers and merchants are highly satisfied with the effectiveness of the product.

(2021 3rd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2021-12-09) Wickrama, M.A.D.; Dharmakeerthi, D.S.C.; Balasooriya, S.A.; Ekanayake, U.M.I.S.; Gamage, M.P.; Amarasena, N.
At present majority of the people in Sri Lanka use private vehicles as their mode of transport. Vehicle breakdown is a main issue faced by the vehicle drivers onroad. But depending on the nature of the underlying reason of breakdown, some minor failures can be fixed by the users themselves if they have the basic knowledge, which the majority lacks. If the vehicles undergo a breakdown in a remote location, getting help or finding the required spare parts become a hindrance. In addition to that, vehicle owners need a platform to get a clear idea and comparisons of vehicle insurance companies and insurance packages. As a solution for the above concerns, authors decided to develop a mobile application to assist drivers with vehicle breakdowns and maintenance along with some extra functions. The suggested system's major functions include providing a personal assistant to aid with vehicle breakdowns, predicting upcoming vehicle maintenance procedures, providing trustworthy spare part pricing, and recommending the best insurance providers to customers. In order to develop the product several technologies and techniques including Natural Language Processing, Neural Networks, and Sentimental Analysis are used. Customers are extremely satisfied with the product's efficacy, according to the results of the survey.
