    CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND FIRM INTEGRATED PERFORMANCE: A CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

    Though the corporate governance has been studied from the viewpoint of first, accounting and financial performance (Khatib & Nour, 2021; Goel, 2018; Mohamed, Basuony, & Badawi, 2013), next, marketing performance (El Fawal & Mawlawi, 2018), and finally, logistic and supply chain performance (Hernawati & Surya, 2019) in isolation, moreover, literature on the first is comparatively higher than on the other two, it is further argued that it has not been studied from the viewpoint of firm integrated performance. The purpose of this study, therefore, is to conceptualize the relationship between corporate governance and firm integrated performance. The study adopted a rigorous literature review in forming critical arguments for the theme studied. Accordingly, the study embraced rigorous a priori knowledge in building the arguments for hypotheses development. The study proposes a conceptual framework for the relationship between corporate governance and firm integrated performance which has the potential of facilitating efficient decision-making on corporate governance and firm integrated performance. The study concludes with a foundation for the theoretical basis of the relationship between corporate governance and firm integrated performance.

    Impact of the Challenges in Implementing Human Resource Information Systems in Sri Lankan MSMEs

    Nowadays, the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) is a trending software that is a highly efficient platform for the HR department to carry out their operations. Still, there are some challenges faced by organisations with regard to HRIS implementation. The primary objective of the research is to explore the impact of the challenges such as the cost of maintenance, technical knowledge, management support and staff training in implementing the HRIS in Sri Lankan micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The authors collected both primary and secondary data. The primary data have been referred from previous research. To study the impact of the challenges and to obtain secondary data, authors analysed 300 surveys as a sample in the Western Province from a total of 1,017,352 MSMEs population in Sri Lanka. This survey had closed-ended questions to collect quantitative data from the respondents, and the convenience sampling method has been used as the data collection method. As the data analysis tool, the authors have used simple and multiple regression analysis to study the significant impact of the challenges on implementation. Lack of researches have been conducted on HRIS implementation, especially in MSMEs, and a minority of HRIS service providers are focusing on MSMEs to promote their systems. To conclude, this research will boost the demand for HRIS technology among MSMEs, pay attention to the HRIS service providers to focus on MSMEs. Further, it helps to spread HRIS knowledge among HR students and HR industrial people to improve the information technology units in the HR industry.

    The impact of video game addiction on aggressive behaviour among tertiary students in Sri Lanka

    This research examines the impact of video game addiction on aggressive behaviour of tertiary students in Sri Lanka. Video game addiction, with its potential adverse impacts has raised concerns among the public, especially regarding its link to aggressive behaviour. Data was gathered from a sample of 382 undergraduates of local non-state universities selected employing cluster sampling technique to examine the correlation between video game addiction and aggression. The survey was conducted to collect data on video game addiction and aggression. Research findings reveal how gaming addiction leads to aggressive behaviour in addicted gamers indicating a strong positive relationship between video game addiction and aggressive behaviour. Therefore, researchers recommend balanced time management practices between game usage and other daily essential activities and promoting awareness about negative behavioural implication of game addiction. It is expected that this study provides insights to stakeholders including teachers, parents, and administrators to better understand the effects of video game addiction, and mitigation strategies to minimise the negative impact on students’ behaviour.
