Publication Embargo An Enhanced Multifunctional Transport Layer Protocol for Heterogeneous Data in Wireless Communication(IEEE, 2020-11) De Silva, D. H; Dewage, R; Guruge, T; Rajapaksha, V; Kulasooriya, V; Wijesekara, LIt is exciting to see that the applicability of smart devices has drastically boosted compared to many other electronic devices during the last decade. Although the usage of those devices is evolving, the kinds of data behaviors they produce are also rising. Nevertheless, when using existing transport layer protocols to support different data behaviors, the devices are having difficulties in applying a single protocol for each data transferring requirement in a wireless environment. The proposed solution for the problem is to develop an Enhanced Multifunctional Transport Layer Protocol which is EMTP for heterogeneous data transferring in wireless communication. The protocol identifies the data transfer behavior and utilizes the characteristics of the transport layer like improving reliability, latency, weaknesses in congestion control, and problems in resiliency.Publication Embargo Model For Evaluating the Reliability of Cyber Component in Power Distribution Systems(IEEE, 2019-10-13) Chakraborty, S; Manoharan, A. K; Hettiarachchige-Don, A; Aravinthan, V; Kapourchali, M. HThe introduction of smart sensors and intelligent electronic devices allow cyber infrastructure to penetrate different levels of power system. Thus, the effective operation of a cyber-physical power system will be affected by cyber network reliability. The focus of this paper is to analyze the reliability of a cyber-physical power system using the concept of three-layered system approach- Power, Communication and Decision. In this work a new method to compute the cyber reliability of the system is proposed by modelling the interdependency between the communication and decision layer. A case study is done using the radial distribution network in the Roy Billinton Test System to show the possible scenarios that should be considered in the reliability evaluation.Publication Embargo Reliability modeling considerations for emerging cyber-physical power systems(IEEE, 2018-06-24) Aravinthan, V; Balachandran, T; Ben-Idris, M; Fei, W; Heidari-Kapourchali, M; Hettiarachchige-Don, A. C. S; Jiang, J. N; Lei, H; Lei, C. The effective operation of a power system in a massively deployed cyber network environment will be affected by cyber network reliability. Therefore, it is vital not only to understand the operation of a cyber network and its reliability, but also it is critical to integrate the interdependency of cyber and power systems into power system planning and operations. This requires a three-layer approach to reliability modeling and evaluation. The cyber and power layers are interconnected by the information layer. The objective of this paper is to define the three-layer model and report a generalized framework for combined reliability modeling.
