Exploring the Kelson’s Pure Theory of Law beyond the Philosophical Value
(School of Law, Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, 2025-10-10) Kodithuwakku, K N K R
Jurisprudence is the philosophy of the law, which delivers an interesting narrative by analyzing law from different perspectives. As far as positivism is concerned, this is one of the luminescent schools of jurisprudence among other ideologies. German Positivism ideas differ from the British Positivism since it neither considers ethics nor facts. Kelson is one of the frontline scholars who introduced the Pure Theory of Law by enriching the Jurisprudence widely, while influencing other scholars to contribute to the legal system. Even though this eminent philosophy fattened the Jurisprudence, still there are some existing conundrums which did not fathomed by the Kelson. This paper intends to discuss the nature of the pure theory while focusing on the effectiveness and validity of Kelson’s basic norm with the separability thesis to identify the practical issues for better application.

Effectiveness of L2 Grammar Videos: A Dialogue between Teachers and Learners
(Faculty of Humanities and Sciences - SLIIT, 2021-03-26) Kalinga, J.
Throughout the years it has been debated whether it is necessary to teach grammar, and what the most effective methods of teaching grammar are. This research addressed several aspects of using technology in the field of education such as technology in language learning, the video as a learning tool, and its relevance to grammar learning and the teacher’s role in a technology-driven classroom. The study examined the perspectives of the teachers and the students towards L2 (Second Language) grammar videos and the effectiveness of such videos through a mixed method: Embedded Experimental Model. The sample included 120 young adults aged 18 - 24 who studied at a private campus in Sri Lanka and two teachers. A major finding of the study is that the students expect their teachers to explain what is on the video while playing it or after the video in order to clarify their doubts and for improved understanding. Consequently, the teachers can use L2 grammar videos as a scaffolding tool. The statistical analysis proved that the experimental group scored more in the tests compared to the control group. Further, there is a discrepancy between the teachers’ perceptions on L2 grammar videos and the students’ preferred types of grammar videos.

The purpose of this systematic review is to identify the effect of music therapy on postoperative pain in adults through findings of critically appraised, selected literature. A systematic search of Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), PubMed, and University of Liverpool John mores DISCOVER, Medline and Google Scholar was conducted using the key terms such as Effect, Effectiveness, Impact, Music therapy, Therapeutic Music, Post-Operative Pain , Post-Surgical Pain. Total number of 1177 records were identified through data base searching and forty three were selected following screening, Only twelve were eligible meeting inclusion criteria and total seven articles were finally selected after the critical appraising for methodological quality with using two tools. The findings of this systematic review indicated that music therapy was effective to reduce postoperative pain and analgesic consumptions in adults with significant positive effects to reduce post-operative analgesic consumptions, and postoperative blood pressure. Findings elaborated lead to emerge two main key themes: Music therapy is an effective intervention to reduce Post-Operative Pain reduction in adults, and music is an effective complementary therapy. All studies included in this systematic review highlighted that generally music therapy is not a standard procedure for reducing post-operative pain but as a complementary therapy that can be combined with standard pharmacological intervention.
