Hybrid Model-Based Automated Exterior Vehicle Damage Assessment and Severity Estimation for Insurance Operations
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2025) Jayagoda, N.M; Kasthurirathna, D
After a vehicle accident, insurance companies face the critical task of assessing the damage sustained by the involved vehicles, a process essential for maintaining the insurer's credibility, building consumer trust, and meeting legal and ethical obligations. This assessment is crucial for ensuring clients' financial protection and proper compensation, upholding the integrity of the insurance process. Traditionally, evaluations have been conducted through manual inspections by experienced professionals who meticulously document vehicle damage. Despite its thoroughness, this approach suffers from significant inefficiencies, high costs, and extended time requirements. Moreover, the method is vulnerable to human errors and subjective biases, which can result in inflated valuations. To overcome these challenges, this research introduces an innovative system designed to leverage technology for analyzing images of damaged vehicles uploaded by the user. This system aims to accurately identify the damaged external components, assess the severity of the damage, and determine the repair needs based on the compromised sections of the vehicle. The findings reveal that the hybrid model used in this research is capable of determining vehicle damage severity with an overall accuracy of 73.3%. This level of accuracy demonstrates the model's robust capability to effectively navigate and analyze complex damage patterns, underscoring its practical applications. By accurately determining damage levels on the first assessment, the model reduces the need for further assessments and disagreements, which frequently cause claim delays. This enhancement increases productivity, reduces administrative costs, and improves the customer experience, resulting in a more efficient, transparent, and satisfactory resolution of vehicle insurance claims.

(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2025) Wickramasinghe T.M.L.D; Costa M.M.R.S; Dissanayake S.C.W.; Abayakoon A.M.W.Y.; Lokuliyana, S; Gamage, N
Enterprise networks increasingly rely on cloud platforms, remote collaboration tools, and real-time communication, placing high demands on bandwidth availability and responsiveness. Static bandwidth allocation approaches often fail to adapt to dynamic traffic conditions, leading to congestion, inefficiency, and degraded Quality of Service (QoS) for critical services such as VoIP and video conferencing. This research introduces a novel real-time bandwidth allocation system that integrates Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), supervised machine learning, and Linux traffic control (tc). Unlike prior solutions that focus only on classification or simulation, our system actively enforces bandwidth policies based on live predictions. Traffic is captured and analyzed in the WAN, while adaptive policies are deployed in the LAN. A web dashboard offers real-time traffic and bandwidth visibility. The proposed system addresses realworld enterprise challenges by enabling intelligent, responsive bandwidth management without requiring costly infrastructure changes, achieving measurable improvements in latency, throughput, and application-level prioritization.

    (2021-01) Wattegama, D; Silva, P. S; Elapatha, K; Yapa Abeywardena, K; Kuruwitaarachchi, N; Jayathilake, C. R
“iSAY”' is a Blockchain-based polling system created for legislative assistance. Sri Lanka is a democratic country. Country follows a representative democracy and voters in Sri Lanka vote for their preferred government based on their election mandate. However, governments implement legislative decisions that are not stated in the election mandate. People won’t get a chance to state their opinion on this legislative matter and the government also doesn’t know whether people like this or not.  To solve this issue, in this paper the authors propose a blockchain-based intelligent polling application for legislative assistance.  “iSay” is an application where blockchain technology gets together with machine learning to add value into the public opinion. The government can create a poll about a legislative decision and people can state their opinion which could be further discussed in the legislature. Adding a significant change to the blockchain based e-voting solutions this paper proposes a novel feature where users can add their idea to a relevant poll. Using machine learning algorithms all these user ideas will be classified and analyzed before presenting to the government. Through this research, it is expected to deploy scalable elections among the general public and get their vote and ideas about specific legislations to generate an overview of general public opinion about legislative decisions.

    (researchgate.net, 2019-03) Anparasanesan, T; Mathangi, K; Seyon, S; Kobikanth, S; Gamage, A
This paper provides a way to track the brain development of children and improving it via gamification. Machine Learning and Gamification are the key technologies used here. As the population rises, the demand for cost-effective methods to reduce the rate of cognitive decline becomes higher. A mobile application is developed to track and develop the brain development of children. In the mobile application, the child initially undergoes an evaluation phase to determine the current level of the cognitive skills of the child. Milestones particular to that age category are also tracked in this evaluation phase. The results of this evaluation phase are analyzed by the machine learning model and suitable brain games are suggested. K-means algorithm is used to develop the model which is an unsupervised learning algorithm. The dataset is prepared by storing the results of each game category in the evaluation phase. Data preprocessing is done to clean up the dataset. During this period, data undergoes a series of steps. The dataset is divided into 80% and 20%. 80% of the dataset is used as the training dataset and the remaining 20% as the test dataset. The accuracy of the model is checked several times against the test data. Model accuracy is improved through model training and finally, the model got an accuracy of 88.49%. For the child, proper training is given to improve his cognitive skills and thus the brain development using Gamification. Games are developed using the UNITY game engine. The system generates a report and notifies parents about their child's statistics periodically. This paper elaborates the procedure of model development, model training, model testing and development of suitable brain games in details. The results of the research work and future works are also discussed in the following sections.

Analyzing Payment Behaviors And Introducing An Optimal Credit Limit
(2019 1st International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2019-12-05) Bandara, H.M.M.T.; Samarasinghe, D.P.; Manchanayake, S.M.A.M.
Identifying an optimal credit limit plays a vital role in telecommunication industry as the credit limit given to customers is influence on the market, revenue stabilization and customer retention. Most of the time service providers offer a fixed credit limit for customers which may cause customer dissatisfaction and loss of potential revenue. Therefore, it is essential to determine an optimal credit limit that maintains customer satisfaction while stabilizing the company revenue. Clustering algorithms were used to group customers with similar payment and usage behaviors. Then the optimal credit limit derived for each cluster is applicable to all the customers within the cluster. In order to identify the most suitable clustering algorithm, cluster validation statistics namely, Silhouette and Dunn indexes were used in this research. Based on the scores generated from these statistics KMeans algorithm was chosen. Furthermore, the quality of the KMeans clustering was evaluated using Silhouette score and the Elbow method. The optimal number of clusters are identified by those validation statistics. The significance of this approach is that the optimal credit limits generated by these clustering models suit dynamic behaviors of the customer which in turn increases customer satisfaction while contributing to reducing customer churn and potential loss of revenue.
