Comprehensive Security Solution for an Industry 4.0 Garment Manufacturing System
(2021 3rd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2021-12-09) Kalhara, D.; De Alwis, U.; Jinadasa, A.; Randunu, D.; Nuwanthika, W.S.; Abeygunawardhana, P.K.W.
Industry 4.0, digital transformation towards Internet of Things (IoT) focuses on productivity rather than security, therefore often face cybersecurity challenges. To overcome such, a centralized security solution focusing on four major areas 1) Standardization, 2) Security configurations with update management, 3) Authentication and physical access control and 4) Intrusion detection was applied to Cyber Physical System (CPS) based garment manufacturing system to overcome the security gap. Security policies based on ISO 27001:2013 and IEC 62443 security standards were applied to the security configuration management system in the design stage to achieve ‘security by design’ concept. Security and audit configurations were applied using Ansible for the automated tool that can be customized based on requirements. A Raspberry Pi 4 was utilized as IDS (Intrusion Detection System) to evaluate performance. The physical access control prevents unauthorized access and access monitoring was done using logs. The proposed system enhances security, reaching for a costeffective, efficient, reusable solution, and provides a comprehensive security solution for potential challenges of current and future smart manufacturing. The system is secured in terms of strategy, design, and operations rather than securing the system after deployment.

Digital Preservation and Noise Reduction using Machine Learning
    (2021 3rd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2021-12-09) Aravinda, K.P.; Sandeepa, K.G.H.; Sedara, V. V.; Chamodya, A.K.Y.L.; Dharmasena, T.; Abeygunawardhana, P.K.W.
This paper proposes a digital preservation solution for Sinhala audios to conserve those as documents with noise reduction. The solution has implemented multiple noise reduction techniques as a pre-processing step to remove unwanted internal and external noises. A two-step, two-way noise reduction process is applied to produce clean audios based on Deep Convolutional Neural Network (DCNN) and adaptive filter-based techniques. This approach implements two separate noise reduction models for internal and external noises. After that, the speech recognition decoder recognizes the speech and converts it to a Unicode document by acoustic, language, and pronunciation models using extracted audio features from the denoised audio. Further, noise reduction models are decoupled from the preservation solution and exposed as a sub solution for multilingualism noise reduction, supporting English and Sinhala audios.

Effective use of network device state information for network path selection
(Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, 2017-01-26) Abeygunawardhana, P.K.W.
Network path selection defines the methodology of selecting the best routes and forwarding traffic in a network service provider (NSP). NSPs use routing protocols that are optimized for a single arbitrary metric (i.e., administrative weight), which is commonly calculated according to the link state information, to select network paths. Despite the advantages, link-state protocols lack the ability to select network paths by considering the states of network devices such as the effect of routers for network path selection. Apparently, studying possible techniques for selecting network paths based on the state information of network devices, e.g., routers, has become obligatory. This paper hypothesis to calculate a composite path selection metric by employing the state information of network devices; the proposed method selects the network paths based on the cumulative packet traveling time. By simulating proposed method using an ISP topology, the proposed method is examined for the effectiveness of using network device state information for network path selection.

    Indoor Autonomous Multi-Robot Communication System
(2021 3rd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2021-12-09) Gunawardhana, K.D.W.; Kularathana, D.G.D.P.; Welagedara, W.H.; Palihakkara, H.E.; Abeygunawardhana, P.K.W.; Wellalage, S.
Robotics, and automation systems are a hot issue right now. Controlling multiple robots at the same time has become very popular. On paper, we propose that a wireless robot-to-robot communication infrastructure be implemented to accomplish some specific tasks. The major goal of this proposed project is to showcase communication infrastructure, a dual manipulator system and a mobile charging dock robot have been designed to achieve this. Special topics and services were employed for communication infrastructure. It is more precise than current communication systems. Existing manipulation situations are limited to a single manipulator task; however, in this case, a dual manipulator task has been designed to work corporately. The charging docking stations are the only places where mobile robots may recharge. We presented a Mobile Charging Dock for recharging mobile robots in this project. This proposed project is introducing a secure communication strategy which uses a ROS topic filtering mechanism.

Intelligent Disease Detection System for Greenhouse with a Robotic Monitoring System
(2020 2nd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2020-12-10) Fernando, S.; Nethmi, R.; Silva, A.; Perera, A.; De Silva, R.; Abeygunawardhana, P.K.W.
Greenhouse farming plays a significant role in the agricultural industry because of its controlled climatic features. Recent examinations have stated that the mean creation of the yields under greenhouses is lessening due to disease events in the plants. These foods have become an imposing undertaking because these plants are being assaulted by different bacterial diseases, micro-organisms, and pests. The chemicals are applied to the plants intermittently without thinking about the necessity of each plant. Several problems have occurred in the greenhouse environment due to these causes. Therefore, there is a huge necessity for a system to detect diseases at an early stage. This research focused on designing a system to detect disease, which causes yellowish in greenhouse plants. Plant yellowing can be considered a significant problem of plants that grow under greenhouse-controlled environments. Through this research is focused on the most important and one of the most attentiongrabbing crop tomato. There are specific diseases that cause yellowish the tomato plant, and they have been identified. The techniques utilized for early recognition of infection are image processing, machine learning, and deep learning.

Workload management to optimize productivity in tertiary and quaternary education
(Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, 2017-01-26) Abeysiri, L.; Weerawarna, N.T.; Abeygunawardhana, P.K.W.
The use of a common yardstick to determine `work hours' for different categories of workers cannot be accepted due to differences between types of work that demand mind and labour. In this connection, where labour only is considered, there are accepted `work hours' recognized internationally. However, for tertiary and quaternary education there is no such acceptance although similarities exist. Available frameworks in existing literature still fails to reveal any such. Yet, there needs to be some measurement. Taking advantage of the proportionate task assessments made so far, this research attempts to establish proportions between and among tasks carried out by members of the academia. Purpose of this study is to develop a comprehensive workload management system with weightage assignment which accounts all activities that academia are performing.
