Digital Democracy: A Secure Platform for Voting
    (IEEE, 2022-01-17) Peiris, K.T. I. U; Gunathilake, G. R. T; Attanayaka, J. A. E. P; Ilankoon, I. M. D. D; Chandrasiri, S. S; Wijendra, D. R
The voting system is the way to elect country representatives. It is a set of rules that determine how the elections and referendums are conducted and how their results are determined. Voting is commonly related to politics and is finished with exploitation and a manual approach. The voters stand to vote for his or her decision. There are many ways to conduct voting, and for a developing country like Sri Lanka, the polling power to have an excellent representative to develop the country into a better and prosperous one. Usually, the existing voting system is operated manually and sometimes may lead to malpractices. Many have suggested diverse ways to overcome the problems, and sometimes those recommendations have failed. The most reliable way to accomplish this is to expand the technology from manual voting systems to digital voting systems. There are several significant issues with introducing such a digital voting system. A significant problem here is the low level of technical knowledge among the people of Sri Lanka. Such a system would be a problem for some at once. This research paper aims to put forward a study on why and how it is necessary to shift from a standard voting system to a digital platform and how it saves time and energy.

Driving Through a Bend: Detection of Unsafe Driving Patterns and Prevention of Heavy Good Vehicle Rollovers
    (IEEE, 2022-01-17) Siriwardana, E. M. A. K; Piyawardana, V. S; Chandrasiri, S. S; Kaushalya, S. G. L. D. H; Sampath, K.D. Amila
Road Traffic Crashes are simply ordinary within the present world. However, heavy goods vehicles (HGV) rollover has become a significant problem worldwide. Depending on the data collected, the sources used, and several key factors contribute to HGV overturning. Accidents overturn due to longer reaction time, shriveled driving performance, lack of driving experience, and driver carelessness. In further consideration, over-steering to turning over, not steering enough to stay in lane, over speed, high located center of gravity, weather condition, road condition, and the road's curves are the most contributing reasons to the overturning of a long vehicle. Thus, this paper proposes machine learning processes to overcome these problems and reduce the HGV rollovers. The proposed system includes a vehicle-equipped system and a ground-based operational surveillance camera. The Vehicle-equipped system can determine the safe speed at which the vehicle should travel according to the type of vehicle and curvature of the road and can detect road cracks and notify the driver by sending the notification to the vehicle dashboard screen. The ground-based driver support system can detect safe speed for HGVs and determine various other traffic parameters which can affect the HGV rollover accidents.

E-patient Card: An Integrated Electronic Health Recording System for Patient
    (IEEE, 2022-01-11) Pivithuru, K. W. A; Srinivasan, A; Wijeratnam, A; Nassar, I; Chandrasiri, S. S; Suriyaa Kumari, P. K
Smart cards are portable integrated devices with data storage and processing capabilities that are utilized in information technology. An electronic patient card is kept on smart cards. Their efficient use with easy and fast data access facilities leads to implementation particularly widespread in hospitals. A smartcard-based Integrated e-Patient Card System is created in this research. The technology communicates data and uses a smart card for personal identification and data transfer. e-Patient Card has several advantages over paper records, including increased accuracy and quality of patient treatment and cost, efficiency, and productivity savings. In the present work, diseases were identified using chest x-ray images, improving the disease detection process faster and more reliable. This system helps the users to get a better idea of the disease with symptoms they got. To make this process more user-friendly chatbot has been implemented. In the future place predictions of coronavirus spread for each place of the infected regions were identified. The patient’s smart card is filled with general health information. Over the distributed object protocol, encryption keys and digital signature keys stored on the system’s smart cards are utilized to exchange secure and authorized data between clients and database servers.

Smart Vehicle Communication System for Collision Avoidance
    (IEEE, 2022-01-10) Ranawaka, M. N; Liyanage, K. S; Wickramasinghe, S. P; Chandrasekara, L. H. P. S. D; Chandrasiri, S. S; Weerathunga, L. I. E. P
The purpose of this research paper is to present a mobile-based solution, the 'iDrive' application for safe driving and driver assistance. The paper begins by defining the research problem, the rapid intensification of motor vehicle accidents, and the resulting number of deaths because of excessive speeding and other related factors. This paper also discusses previous related research work in this area, as well as its limitations. Then, we propose an Android-based application that monitors the vehicle via an On-Board Diagnostics (OBD-II) interface, allowing it to detect accident scenarios, as well as the appropriate speed for driving on the road based on their GPS location, and an automated communication system that shares detected collisions with nearby drivers. Furthermore, this paper discusses the research project’s verified results and the evidence to show that the research met its primary goal.
