Accessbim model for environmental characteristics for vision impaired indoor navigation and way finding
    (2012 International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation, 2012-11) Jayakody, J. A. D. C. A; Abhayasinghe, N; Murray, I
Most blind people require assistance to navigate within buildings as there is often insufficient information about the buildings available to them. To address this problem, this paper describes the “AccessBIM” model as an approach to facility management in which a digital representation of the indoor building features is used to facilitate the exchange and interoperability of real-time information in digital format which can assist blind people to independently access unfamiliar building indoor environments. This paper discusses conceptual communication model driven architecture that can be implemented for way finding and data synchronization, generating, in real-time, an AccessBIM for a remote user.

An Automated Monitoring and Alert System for a Typical Server Room
    (Academia.edu, 2014-06-13) Jayakody, J. A. D. C. A; Wijesundara, M
In this paper presents, the design and implementation of an Automated Monitoring and Alert System for Typical Server Room. This project is based on a microcontroller by Dallas Semiconductor known as TINI (Tiny Internet Interface) DS80C400. The system can send SMS messages, send out emails, etc to alert to appropriate personnel to maintain a high availability of services.

Document Reader for Vision Impaired Elementary School Children to Identify Printed Images
    (IEEE, 2019-12-05) Gamage, N. D. U; Jayadewa, K. W. C; Jayakody, J. A. D. C. A
Vision Impairment is a severe reduction of one or more functions of the eye. The print disability prevents a person from gaining information from printed material in the standard way and requires them to utilize alternative methods to access the information. World Health Organization estimated that nineteen (19) million children are visually impaired worldwide. As they are the future of the world it is necessary to eradicate barriers to the journey of gaining knowledge. Hence, this paper presents a mobile-based application targeting elementary school students to read textual documents, which contains a graphical image. The mobile application provides audio assistance to navigate through a mobile application, autofocused image capturing of printed papers, store captured images, classify selected text, images, and read-aloud generated digitized text. Therefore, “Schmoozer” would allow visually impaired individuals to read unbraided documents without others' interaction. Furthermore, this paper discusses the test results and evaluations to justify the feasibility of the proposed solution.

Voice-based Online Examination System for Visually Impaired Students
    (IEEE, 2022-04-14) Jayakody, J. A. D. C. A; Dharmasena, I. H. H. N
Online methods such as e-learning, e-business, online shopping, online payment, and so on have gained in popularity around the world as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic. Education sectors use emergency tele-learning, online learning platforms to persist in this circumstance and exams are conducted as online exams. This research highly focused on visually impaired students who are unable to read the questions displayed on the computer screen in this online examination system. They missed their braille system which is more familiar to read and write more easily. This is high time to build a proper voice-based online examination system for visually impaired students. This system should read the question that is displayed on the screen and obtain the student's response via voice commands. It can only lead students through the online exam using voice, and students can only provide the system answers and navigation orders using voice. The proposed system major goals are to read questions to students, obtain answers from them and effectively navigate students through the system using voice instructions. It builds a comfortable environment for the visually impaired students to write the exam and it helps to improve their personality when they are facing the exam.
