Publication Embargo An Automated Tool for Student Journey Orchestration & Optimization using Machine Learning(IEEE, 2022-12-09) Ramanayaka, D.Y; Liyanagunawardana, A.P; Ekanayake, E.M.T.K.B; Weerarathna, U.U; Jayasingha, T.B; Thilakarthna, TThe customer journey is a full interaction that a customer has with a business. Every touchpoint of the business is an opportunity to provide good experiences that encourage future opportunities to become customers and consumers to be committed loyal customers through the customer journey. This research paper refers to the student’s journey at university as a customer journey & considers the student’s actions to map the next suitable actions. This paper proposed a machine learningbased novel approach to recommending the suitable next best action for the students based on their past performance at university by using customer journey orchestration and optimization. Customer journey orchestration is the process of coordinating customer experiences in real-time to encourage better engagement with the systems and organization. The journey orchestration of university students is currently a manual flow. The main goal of this research is to convert the manual flow of university journey orchestration into an automated flow. The proposed system orchestrates and optimizes the student journeys at each milestone of the university by recommending the suitable path or next best action as the outcome to help students make a successful path throughout their university journey. This research contributes to achieving the educational goals and professional career goals of university students successfully. Furthermore, from the perspective of the university, this proposed system supports everything to facilitate better directions for the students to complete their studies successfully.Publication Embargo Computer Vision Enabled Drowning Detection System(IEEE, 2021-12-09) Handalage, U; Nikapotha, N; Subasinghe, C; Prasanga, T; Thilakarthna, T; Kasthurirathna, DSafety is paramount in all swimming pools. The current systems expected to address the problem of ensuring safety at swimming pools have significant problems due to their technical aspects, such as underwater cameras and methodological aspects such as the need for human intervention in the rescue mission. The use of an automated visual-based monitoring system can help to reduce drownings and assure pool safety effectively. This study introduces a revolutionary technology that identifies drowning victims in a minimum amount of time and dispatches an automated drone to save them. Using convolutional neural network (CNN) models, it can detect a drowning person in three stages. Whenever such a situation like this is detected, the inflatable tube-mounted self-driven drone will go on a rescue mission, sounding an alarm to inform the nearby lifeguards. The system also keeps an eye out for potentially dangerous actions that could result in drowning. This system’s ability to save a drowning victim in under a minute has been demonstrated in prototype experiments' performance evaluations.Publication Open Access Guru Gedara: Smart Mathematical e-learning Platform for Grade Five Students(Department of Computing and Information Systems, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, PO Box 02, Belihuloya, 70140, Sri Lanka., 2021-02-24) Rajapaksha, S. K; Thilakarthna, T; Wijesundara, W. G. M. V. S; Wickramasooriya, M, K; Ekanayake, E. M. O. M; Katupitiya, S. R. M. J. SThis paper introduces a web-based educational support system developed aiming optimize mathematical knowledge of Grade 5 students. This application can be also used as a distance learning method for the lockdown situations occurred due to COVID-19 pandemic. Both primary class students and teachers face various difficulties, due to competitiveness of grade 5 scholarship examination. Consequently, emotion analysis which is a sub section in this system, uses sentiment analyzing to boosts the students’ emotional state, while Automated MCQ generated sub section can be used to gain mathematical knowledge, by facing MCQ quizzes. Additionally, Smart Video-based Learning Environment sub section can be used to gain knowledge related to mathematics by searching relevant videos, besides the Voicebased Question Answering section can be used to get answers orally for the questions asked in voice format. However, some sections use IQ level of each student to provide better solutions. Above all, it can be used at home as an online service while identifying and solving student’s weakness.
