ARCSECURE: Centralized Hub for Securing a Network of IoT Devices
    (Springer, Cham, 2021-07-06) Yapa Abeywardena, K; Abeykoon, A. M. I. S; Atapattu, A. M. S. P. B; Jayawardhane, H. N; Samarasekara, C. N
As far as it is considered, IoT has been a game changer in the advancement of technology. In the current context, the major issue that users face is the threat to their information stored in these devices. Modern day attackers are aware of vulnerabilities in existence in the current IoT environment. Therefore, securing information from being gone into the hands of unauthorized parties is of top priority. With the need of securing the information came the need of protecting the devices which the data is being stored. Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) environments working with IoT devices are particularly in need of such mechanism to protect the data and information that they hold in order to sustain their operations. Hence, in order come up with a well-rounded security mechanism from every possible aspect, this research proposes a plug and play device “ARCSECURE”.

Blockchain-based Secure Environment for Electronic Health Records
    (IEEE, 2022-11-26) Jayasinghe, J. G. L. A; Shiranthaka, K. G. S.; Kavith, T; Jayasinghe, M. H. D. V.; Yapa Abeywardena, K; Yapa, K
Electronic health records (EHRs) have become the de facto standard for storing patient data in hospitals because of the data technology revolution. Many hospitals use server-based systems to keep track of patient medical records, however, this limits the scalability of those systems because they require a lot of storage space. Interoperability and security and privacy concerns, as well as cyber-attacks on the centralized storage, are among the issues they are dealing with. Lab report downloads can be compromised by a poor authentication mechanism that can be easily shared with a third party. Highlighted issues will be addressed by the proposed system, a Blockchain-based private patient information management system. Using a distributed, immutable, and secure ledger, the solution promises efficient system access and retrieval. Consensus can be achieved without consuming a big amount of energy or causing network congestion thanks to an enhanced consensus technique. Because of their tight zero-knowledge requirement, near-perfect data interchange across many platforms is possible thanks to Non-Fungible Tokens, which encourage openness and immutability in the data flow. In addition, the proposed system uses a mix of a hybrid access control system and public key cryptography to ensure high levels of data protection. Additionally, it is a fantastic accomplishment when Lab Report Download Portal and the report generator for medical lab reports can be connected to the main system, which can dynamically modify the report template format with multi-factor authentication enabled. Know your customer verification is also used to authenticate the user to the system. Decentralizing the medical industry’s data storage, sharing, and record-keeping is the general goal of this solution; this method eliminates the need for paper records.

    Hashtag Generator and Content Authenticator
    (researchgate.net, 2018-01) Yapa Abeywardena, K; Ginige, A. R; Herath, N; Somarathne, H; Thennakoon, T. M. N. S
In the recent past, Online Marketing applications have been a focus of research. But still there are enormous challenges on the accuracy and authenticity of the content posted through social media. And if the social media business platforms are considered, majority of the users who try to add a market value to their own product face the problem of not getting enough attention from their target audience. The purpose of this research is to develop a safe and efficient trending hashtag generating application solution for social media business users which generates trending and relevant hashtags for user content in order to get a broad reach of target audience, automatically generates a meaningful caption to their relevant posts and guarantees the authenticity of the product at the same time. The user content is analyzed and filters the important keywords, generates a meaningful caption, suggest related trending keywords and generates trending hashtags to get the required reach for online marketers. Additionally, the marketing products’ content authentication is ensured. The application uses Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, API technologies, Java and Python technologies. A unique database is assigned to users which contains rankings for each user. The target audience who engages in buying products get to know about the status of the sellers with respect to authenticity of the content. It is believed that the application provides a promising solution to existing audience reach problems of online marketers and buyers. The significance of this system is to help marketers and buyers to engage in online buying and selling with much effective, reliable and safer ways. This mitigate the vulnerability of bad social media marketing influences and helps to establish a safe and reliable online marketing practice to make both sellers and buyers happy. This paper provides a brief description on how to perform an organized online marketing discipline via the Trending Hashtag Generator & Image Authenticator application.

“iSAY”: Blockchain-based Intelligent Polling System for Legislative Assistance
    (2021-01) Wattegama, D; Silva, P. S; Elapatha, K; Yapa Abeywardena, K; Kuruwitaarachchi, N; Jayathilake, C. R
“iSAY”' is a Blockchain-based polling system created for legislative assistance. Sri Lanka is a democratic country. Country follows a representative democracy and voters in Sri Lanka vote for their preferred government based on their election mandate. However, governments implement legislative decisions that are not stated in the election mandate. People won’t get a chance to state their opinion on this legislative matter and the government also doesn’t know whether people like this or not.  To solve this issue, in this paper the authors propose a blockchain-based intelligent polling application for legislative assistance.  “iSay” is an application where blockchain technology gets together with machine learning to add value into the public opinion. The government can create a poll about a legislative decision and people can state their opinion which could be further discussed in the legislature. Adding a significant change to the blockchain based e-voting solutions this paper proposes a novel feature where users can add their idea to a relevant poll. Using machine learning algorithms all these user ideas will be classified and analyzed before presenting to the government. Through this research, it is expected to deploy scalable elections among the general public and get their vote and ideas about specific legislations to generate an overview of general public opinion about legislative decisions.

SUPPLYDECK – A Blockchain-Based Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Management
    (IEEE, 2022-12-09) Amarasinghe, A.A.B. G; Gamagedara, G.M.H. S; Pitigala, K.K; Subawickrama, H.D.A. E; Yapa Abeywardena, K; Yapa, K
With the rising competition among pharmaceutical companies, the current drug supply chain market has become more competitive with high-quality product segments. The rapid growth of internet pharmacies has made it more difficult to standardize drug safety throughout in complex distributed supply chain networks. There is a high chance of introducing counterfeit drugs which are almost the same as the original pharmaceuticals. Due to the lack of transparency the possibility of tampering with drugs in the current manual and web-based pharmaceutical systems is extremely high. Throughout the past recent years, these counterfeit drugs were recognized as the one of major worldwide problems. This situation is worse in developing countries. The unavailability of verifying the legitimacy of drug suppliers and poor mechanisms to trace the drugs were identified as critical points that need to be resolved. SUPPLYDECK comes as a solution for the critical scenario mentioned. This solution addresses the above problems using blockchain technology, as a distributed digital ledger that ensures transparency, traceability, and security. This can show promise for solving some global supply chain management problems using smart contracts and user authentication along with IoT technology and machine learning concepts that are critically examined with this potential application.
