Publication Embargo Banana Disease Identification Using Machine Learning Based Technologies and Weather-Based Dispersion Analysis(IEEE, 2022-12-09) Kothalawala, M.U.; Gaveshith, M.G. K; Tharaka, A.H.D.H.; Punchihewa, I.A; Sriyaratna, DBanana is the fourth most important food crop in the world as well as the most important and popular fruit crop in Sri Lanka. Banana leaf diseases are becoming one of the most important factors affecting agricultural products. As a result of these diseases, the quantity and quality of agricultural produce have drastically decreased. Hence, early detection and classification of banana leaf diseases are becoming more important than ever. But the ancient method of disease identification, visual observation is no longer helpful in this matter as it requires significant knowledge and experience related to banana diseases and symptoms which present farmers severely lacks. Therefore, using ICT-based approaches such as autoML, deep learning, natural language processing and APIs are very important towards the efficiency of the disease identification process and the accuracy of the diagnosis as well as keeping farmers synced with the information related to their plantation such as recent threats and nearby threats.Publication Open Access Source Code based Approaches to Automate Marking in Programming Assignments(Science and Technology Publications, 2021) Kuruppu, T; Tharmaseelan, J; Silva, C; Samaratunge Arachchillage, U. S. S; Manathunga, K; Reyal, S; Kodagoda, N; Jayalath, TWith the embarkment of this technological era, a significant demand over programming modules can be observed among university students in larger volume. When figures grow exponentially, manual assessments and evaluations would be a tedious and error-prone activity, thus marking automation has become fast growing necessity. To fulfil this objective, in this review paper, authors present literature on automated assessment of coding exercises, analyse the literature from four dimensions as Machine Learning approaches, Source Graph Generation, Domain Specific Languages, and Static Code Analysis. These approaches are reviewed on three main aspects: accuracy, efficiency, and user-experience. The paper finally describes a series of recommendations for standardizing the evaluation and benchmarking of marking automation tools for future researchers to obtain a strong empirical footing on the domain, thereby leading to further advancements in the field.Publication Embargo WoKnack – A Professional Social Media Platform for Women Using Machine Learning Approach(2021 3rd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2021-12-09) Shanmugarajah, S.; Praisoody, A.; Rakib Uddin, M.D.Today’s generation is heavily influenced by social media. However, most users decline to post their abilities on these platforms for a variety of reasons, including security, a lack of basic skills, and a lack of knowledge about the various skill sets. It's understandable that women face many security risks on these platforms. WoKnack is a professional social networking platform dedicated to women. This opens opportunities for women to demonstrate their abilities and teach other women. This paper targets onfunctionalities like registration limited to female users, skill categorization, post verification and privacy preservation. Facial image, identification document and Voice related gender verification done using machine learning approaches to identify thegender before registration. Accuracy of 91% gained during the process. Skills have been categorized using Natural language processing and post verification done based on these categories. Usage of the best accurate algorithm gives an accuracy of 94% during this process. In order to preserve the privacy of users Data anonymization, skill and location clustering have been added to the system.Publication Embargo Virtual Dressing Room: Smart Approach to Select and Buy Clothes(2021 3rd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2021-12-09) Weerasinghe, S.W.P.N.M.; Rajapaksha, R.M.D.D.; Sathsara, L.G.I.; Gunasekara, H.S.D.N.; Wijendra, D.R.; De Silva, D.I.The clothing industry portrays a major part of a respective country`s economy. Due to the predilection for clothing items of the people have led to the increasing of physical and online clothing stores in all around the world. Most of the people are used to go to the physical shopping and purchase their desired clothing items. But, as a consequence of the current pandemic situation, most of the people are unable to step out from their homes. This application is intended to cater an opportunity to the customers, who are not able to reach the physical clothing stores due to a pandemic situation and mobility difficulties. In addition, this application diminishes the time wastage, clothing size mismatches and the lesser user satisfaction ratio inside a physical clothing store. A customized 3D model has featured in the application to cater the virtual fitting experience to the customer. And the AI chatbot assistant in the application interacts with the user while catering virtual assistance for a better cloth selection process. In addition to that, this application has concentrated on the clothing shop by providing a future sales prediction component utilizing the K-Nearest Neighbors algorithm to provide an aid to their business commitments.Publication Embargo Predicting Diabetes Mellitus Using Machine Learning and Optical Character Recognition(IEEE, 2021-04-02) Silva, W. A. J. R; Shirantha, H. M. K; Balalla, L. J. M. V. N; Ranasinghe, R. A. D. V. K; Kuruwitaarachchi, N; Kasthurirathna, DDiabetes Mellitus is recognized as a chronic metabolic disease that is characterized by hyperglycemia. As stated by the International Diabetes Federation, the statistics reveal that the incidence of diabetes among adults in Sri Lanka is 8.5%. In hindsight, this indicates that an average of one in every twelve adults in Sri Lanka is at risk of being diagnosed with the disease. However, presently, due to the lack of knowledge or mediums concerning the disease and its symptoms, diabetes often goes undetected which has resulted in 1/3 rd of the constituent population being unaware that they possess the disease. The proposed system aims to implement an application to read and analyze medical reports which will generate data that predicts the probabilities of the contraction and onset of diabetes, with insurance of maximum system efficiency and data credibility. Machine learning classification algorithms and optimization techniques have been used to predict diabetes status with maximum accuracy. To extract data from medical reports Optical Character Recognition, Image Processing, and Natural Language Processing have been usedPublication Open Access Agro-Genius: Crop Prediction Using Machine Learning(2019-10) Gamage, A; Kasthurirathna, DThis paper present a way to aid farmers focusing on profitable vegetable cultivation in Sri Lanka. As agriculture creates an economic future for developing countries, the demand of modern technologies in this sector is higher. Key technologies used for this problem are Deep Learning, Machine Learning and Visualization. As the product, an android mobile application is developed. In this application the users should input their location to start the prediction process. Data preprocessing is started when the location is received to the system. The collected dataset divided into 3 parts. 80 percent for training, 10 percent for testing and 10 percent for validation. After that the model is created using LSTM RNN for vegetable prediction and ARIMA for price prediction. Finally, for given location profitable crop and predicted future price of vegetables are shown in the application. Other than the prediction, optimizing for multiple crop sowing according to the user requirements and visualizing cultivation and production data on map and graphs are also given in the application. This paper elaborates the procedure of model development, model training and model testing.
