RThe purpose of this research was to identify the most influencing factors to the success of Digital Transformation (DT) journey of a commercial bank in meeting the digital savvy, dynamic customer demand in the banking business. The study has focused on the predominant stages of DT, various theoretical models related to DT, the influence of the DT over banking industry, benefits, challenges, and barriers of DT along with various internal factors influencing success of DT. The expansion of the DT phenomenon at national level over the years with the regulatory influence has urged Commercial Banks to digitally transform to be in the competition. The low success rate reported consistently for a considerable period in the selected commercial bank was identified as the research problem for the study. The respondents have been selected from the population of managerial level employees and the scaling down of DT success had been concentrated on the empirically used “Digital Maturity Model”. The conceptual framework consists of four independent variables contributing to DT success most cautiously selected by researcher from the previous literature on the higher frequency in simultaneous research. The Author recommends the strategies and measures to increase the low success rate reported in the DT initiatives of the Banks such as (1) Recognizing change and urgent response (2) Strategic alignment (3) Reinvigoration of culture (4) Training and upskilling workforce (5) Business perspective technology disruption (6) Significance on data culture and (7) Digital product development. The research significantly covers the theoretical gap in the DT discipline in local context and by assessing the internal factors subject to inside-out approach anticipating making a reference to support sustainable future growth in the digital business in the banking industry despite the limitations of individuals researching on a typical discipline like DT.Publication Open Access Effect of Social Media Influencers’ Attributes on Customer Purchasing Behavior in Sri Lankan Context (Special References to Facebook and Instagram)(Emerald Publishing, 2022-12-01) Bandara, G; Jayasuriya, N; Nimnajith, M; Withanage, N; Fernando, K; Jayawardana, SThis study aims to identify how social media influencer’s attributes can be useful to tune the customer purchasing behavior. Since the regulation's implementation in 2013, terminal handling charges for containerized cargo can only be recovered from the contractually obligated party to pay them, not from the consumers. In this study, the researchers argue that the former is easier to execute because even though the government has implemented these regulations to secure the consignees and shippers, there are many negative impacts of the regulations on the non-Vessel operating common carriers, as well as indirect impact on the whole shipping industry and the economy of the country. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data gathered through semi-structured interviews, and thirteen initial codes were identified under three themes during the analysis. Through the findings, the researchers have examined the impact of terminal handling charges in the Colombo port on the non-Vessel operating common carriers after enforcing the 2013 government regulations, analyzed the functions of non-Vessel operating common carriers and their relationship with the major shipping lines, and last suggested the strategies to overcome the negative impact on nonVessel operating common carriers after enforcing 2013 government regulations. This study can guide future researchers and business sectors to construct their plans and processes to ensure that organizations run smoothly and consistently.Publication Open Access Impact of Social Media Influencer Marketing on Consumer Engagement: A Study on Cosmetic Consumers in Sri Lanka(Emerald Publishing, 2022-12-01) Thathsara, J. E; Gregory, V; Jayasuriya, NMost marketers and salespeople focus on inciting impulsive purchases to increase sales volume using marketing principles. To advertise their offerings, marketers employ a variety of personalities and sometimes, fictional characters who can influence consumers' decisions. According to marketers, these two principles complement one another well and are successful at boosting overall sales. This study's primary objective is to determine how "Para social Interaction" influences the "Impulse Buying Behavior" of customers in Sri Lanka, with comparison to Generation Y and Generation Z. This study quantitatively investigated the actual role that PSI plays in customer decision making process by gathering data cross sectionally through a survey and analyzing data through regression analysis techniques by using SPSS software. This is one of the earliest research projects to examine the relationship between Para social influence and impulse buying in the Sri Lankan context by comparing consumers of generations Y and Z. The research is important to marketers since it identifies the strengths and shortcomings when combining PSI and impulse buying to enhance sales. The findings of this study revealed a linear link between PSI and impulse purchases, with PSI having a favorable impact on impulse purchases. Remarkably, gender does not moderate the association between PSI and impulse purchases, and there is no difference between generation Y and generation Z when it comes to purchasing impulsively under the influence of PSI.Publication Open Access Examining Drivers that Influence Mobile Banking Adoption of Small and Medium Enterprises in the Colombo District(Emerald Publishing, 2022-12-01) Chandraguptha, B.D.G.K; Menikdiwela, S.D; Madurasinghe, M.M.L.K; Kalpage, N.D; Dunuwila, V.R; Wickramarachchi, C.NMobile Banking services are popular all over the world due to the advancement of Information and Communication Technology. C; Katudampe, K.T.B.P; Wijewardhana, M.A.R.H; Wikramarathna, H.A; Karunarathna, K. N. P; Thelijjagoda, SThe purpose of this research is to investigate the importance of private-public partnerships in the development of container terminals. The study will thoroughly examine the necessity of Private Public Partnerships (PPP) and its impact in increasing as well as in finding investments, when developing container terminals. We gather qualitative, statistical information & facts related to the sector from primary & secondary sources to identify & analyse elements like current and past capacities, history of handling volumes, efficiency rates, productivity, revenue etc. on various terminals established within the port of Colombo. Due to major benefit of sharing capital funding responsibility and public risk with the private sector, this analysis shows that resorting to PPP-based projects is a much healthier alternative for SLPA. In addition, the PPP spectrum serves to highlight the SLPA's efforts to develop appropriate models, such as the BOT model, in response to the growing demand for shipping line services. The SAGT & CICT, which were created as contemporary container terminals under BOT conditions, have been successful. The introduction of BOT-based investments has improved the Colombo port's performance levels and enhanced the SLPA's motivation.Publication Open Access Impact of Psychosocial Factors on Sustainability of Stock Investors’ Inclination: A Case of the South Pacific Stock Market(Emerald Publishing, 2022-12-01) Arachchige, S. CPrevious research has documented that psycho- cognitive resources and socioeconomic status have significant influences on investment behavior in financial assets. Drawing from the positive psychosocial perspective, I hypothesized that positive enterprising personality mediates the influence of individual characteristics on investment behavior. I tested this hypothesis in the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) framework using a purposive sample of potential stock investors in Fiji. The theoretical framework and analytical procedures, I introduce here, can also be used to discover additional factors influencing investment inclination and then estimate the predictors of stock market investments in other developing countries with similar socioeconomic contexts, for example, Sri Lanka. The results revealed that four latent factors (Intuition, Education and knowledge, Sociocultural norms, and Enterprising personality) are distinct dimensions of investment inclination together with the maturity factor (Age) towards stock investments. The findings could broaden our understanding about the direct and indirect impact of psychosocial characteristics on stock market participation through positive, personal resources such as an enterprising personality. The findings will be useful for financial service providers and regulators in designing educational programs for different levels of maturity, knowledge, and education, to enhance enterprising personality qualities amongst people generally, and inculcate positive attitudes towards stock investments in the young through high school curricula and mass-awareness programs.Publication Open Access Factors Affecting Hybrid Learning Methods (Case study in One of the Leading Private Higher Education Institutes in Sri Lanka)(Emerald Publishing, 2022-12-01) Rathnayake, N; Jayasinghe, P; Dias, C; Jayamalki, A; Wickramasinghe, P; Sivaguru, RHybrid Learning (HL) become a major part of the learning style for the higher education sector in the Sri Lankan context.
