Publication Open Access Impact of Psychosocial Factors on Sustainability of Stock Investors’ Inclination: A Case of the South Pacific Stock Market(Emerald Publishing, 2022-12-01) Arachchige, S. CPrevious research has documented that psycho- cognitive resources and socioeconomic status have significant influences on investment behavior in financial assets. Drawing from the positive psychosocial perspective, I hypothesized that positive enterprising personality mediates the influence of individual characteristics on investment behavior. I tested this hypothesis in the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) framework using a purposive sample of potential stock investors in Fiji. The theoretical framework and analytical procedures, I introduce here, can also be used to discover additional factors influencing investment inclination and then estimate the predictors of stock market investments in other developing countries with similar socioeconomic contexts, for example, Sri Lanka. The results revealed that four latent factors (Intuition, Education and knowledge, Sociocultural norms, and Enterprising personality) are distinct dimensions of investment inclination together with the maturity factor (Age) towards stock investments. The findings could broaden our understanding about the direct and indirect impact of psychosocial characteristics on stock market participation through positive, personal resources such as an enterprising personality. The findings will be useful for financial service providers and regulators in designing educational programs for different levels of maturity, knowledge, and education, to enhance enterprising personality qualities amongst people generally, and inculcate positive attitudes towards stock investments in the young through high school curricula and mass-awareness programs.Publication Open Access Examining Drivers that Influence Mobile Banking Adoption of Small and Medium Enterprises in the Colombo District(Emerald Publishing, 2022-12-01) Chandraguptha, B.D.G.K; Menikdiwela, S.D; Madurasinghe, M.M.L.K; Kalpage, N.D; Dunuwila, V.R; Wickramarachchi, C.NMobile Banking services are popular all over the world due to the advancement of Information and Communication Technology. Mobile Banking services have a profound impact on the environment of a business according to past research. This study aimed to examine factors influencing Mobile Banking Adoption among small and medium enterprises in Colombo District. Influencing factors were identified as Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Risk, and Perceived Cost. The quantitative research approach was used. The sample size for primary data collection was 56 according to the Morgan table with the help of a simple random sampling method and based on the small and medium enterprises registry published by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. Primary data was collected with the help of online questionnaires and data analysis was performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software. Reliability and validity tests were conducted using Cronbach’s Alpha and Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin tests and which indicates that the data is valid enough to go ahead with the analysis. According to correlation analysis, there was a positive relationship between dependent and independent variables. A multiple linear regression test was done, the model fit with an adjusted R2 value of 81.3%, and the overall model was significant. Independent variables such as Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness, and Perceived Risk were a significant relationship with the dependent variable called Mobile Banking Adoption. Researchers decided to test the Ordinary Least Square assumptions using EViews software and confirmed the selected model’s suitability. Therefore, the statistical findings proved the researchers’ main objective had been achieved. The study would enhance the efficiency and productivity of small and medium enterprises in Sri Lanka, and it leads to enhancing the country’s economy as well as gross domestic product.Publication Open Access Effects of Media Richness and Verbal Interactivity on Consumer Engagement(Emerald Publishing, 2022-12-01) Wimanthika, K; Wisenthige, K; Rathnayake, K; Edirisooriya, D; Cadir, I; Abeysekara, AMany brands are interested in their public profiles because they highlight the value of actively engaging in overall social media interactions in establishing their brand within and between consumers. As today's fashion customers have more choice and understanding, this provides a challenge to companies in terms of client loyalty. Fashion and clothing manufacturers are increasingly conscious of the link between brand recognition, fashionrelated conversations, and future purchasing behaviour. The emphasis of this study is on fashion brands' successful customer-engagement marketing techniques through Instagram. This study looks at the most up-to-date consumer engagement that takes place on Instagram with the variables of media richness and verbal interactivity. Basically, the entire research that has been carried out is based on Morgan table 384 and incorporates pages of 14 specific brands with more than 50k followers. The result was generated using multinominal logistic regression to analysis data. The findings show that, among the variables chosen, media richness has a greater influence than verbal interactivity. When examining each variable separately, it becomes clear that the media richness variable has a greater engagement rate for edited photos than for actual photos, carousels, and videos. The main objective of the study is to realise the increase of consumer engagement through the above-mentioned independent variables. Empirical studies were uncovered defining how modern marketing communications connect brands into customer perception, while claiming more investigation. In addition, this research article investigates the usage of Instagram for penetrating consumer interaction in the context of social media platforms.Publication Open Access Operation Flexibility Focused Capability Impact on Supply Chain Risks in Sri Lankan Courier Companies(Emerald Publishing, 2022-12-01) Kendangamuwa, J.K; Senanayake, T.V; Jayasundara, I.H; Botheju, I.U; Madhavika, W.D.N; Weerarathna, R.SThis study primarily looks at how operation flexibility focused capability impacts supply chain risks in the Sri Lankan courier sector in the industry 4.0. Since the regulation's implementation in 2013, terminal handling charges for containerized cargo can only be recovered from the contractually obligated party to pay them, not from the consumers. In this study, the researchers argue that the former is easier to execute because even though the government has implemented these regulations to secure the consignees and shippers, there are many negative impacts of the regulations on the non-Vessel operating common carriers, as well as indirect impact on the whole shipping industry and the economy of the country. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data gathered through semi-structured interviews, and thirteen initial codes were identified under three themes during the analysis. Through the findings, the researchers have examined the impact of terminal handling charges in the Colombo port on the non-Vessel operating common carriers after enforcing the 2013 government regulations, analyzed the functions of non-Vessel operating common carriers and their relationship with the major shipping lines, and last suggested the strategies to overcome the negative impact on nonVessel operating common carriers after enforcing 2013 government regulations. This study can guide future researchers and business sectors to construct their plans and processes to ensure that organizations run smoothly and consistently.Publication Open Access Parent-Child Purchasing Interaction in Pester Power of a Young Consumer(Emerald Publishing, 2022-12-01) Rupasinghe, N.S; Senavirathne, S.T; Champakamala, V.P.C.L; Ravinath, S; Jayasuriya, N; Jayasinghe, J.K.P.S.KThis study aims to elucidate the parental perspective on the parent-child purchase request interaction and pester power with regards to Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in the context of Sri Lanka.
