Publication Open Access Factors Impacting Job Satisfaction of Female Academic Staff in Sri Lankan State Universities(SLIIT Business School, 2023-12-14) Edirisinghe, G; Serasinghe, I; Amarasinghe, S; Galappatti, D; Wisenthige, K; Jayathilake, TThe purpose of this research is to investigate the critical factors impacting job satisfaction of female academic staff in state universities. With a rising number of women entering academia, it is critical to identify the factors that contribute to their job satisfaction to build an inclusive and supportive work environment. Using a comprehensive literature review, survey questionnaires, this research investigates numerous factors that affect job satisfaction of female academic staff. The study was adopted a quantitative-method approach to gather data from a diverse sample of female academic staff members from various state universities with structured questionnaire is administered to a representative sample of female academic staff to gather quantitative data on their job satisfaction levels and identify key factors influencing their contentment at work. Using 330 sample size for the research according to the morgan table and using smart pls software for the data analysis. Data analysis method is structural equation modelling. According to the study's findings, several major factors have a substantial impact on the job satisfaction of female academic staff members in state universities. When it comes to their overall job satisfaction, work-life balance stands out as a key factor, with many participants citing difficulties juggling their professional and personal obligations. The study also emphasizes the value of inclusive and encouraging work environments and employee dedication. The results of this study have broad repercussions. Institutional leaders and politicians can conduct targeted interventions to improve working conditions and promote a more inclusive and supportive environment by studying the factors impacting job satisfaction among female academic staff at state universities. With a particular focus on the experiences of female academic workers, this study adds to the body of knowledge on job satisfaction in academia.Publication Embargo The Influence of Interpersonal Communication Skills on Job Satisfaction of Front Line Managers in FMCG Industry(SLIIT Business School, 2019-12-10) Wijedasa, V. S.; Somawardana, W.S.D.; Gunaweera, T.; Madhubhani, M.A.H; Weligodapola, H.W.M.C.The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of Interpersonal Communication Skills on Job Satisfaction, identify the determinants, current level of Interpersonal Communication Skill level and methods to enhance the Interpersonal Communication Skills of Front Line Managers in FMCG sector. The questions that answer through this research are, what is the impact of Interpersonal Communication Skills on Job Satisfaction of Front Line Managers, what are the determinants and current level of Interpersonal Communication Skills of the Front Line Managers, what are the methods to enhance the Interpersonal Communication Skills of the Front Line Managers. Data were gathered via questionnaire survey, results were analysed through SPSS, in order to investigate the impact of Interpersonal Communication Skills, identify the current Interpersonal Communication Skills. The results of observations and interviews determine the methods to enhance Interpersonal Communication Skills of Front Line Managers. The qualitative data from the interview with area sales managers and Front Line Managers were analysed through the pattern matching. Through the results it identified that there is a positive impact with Interpersonal Communication skills on job satisfaction which impact six determinants on Job Satisfaction of the Front Line Managers in the FMCG industry. Cultural Communication Skill and Conversational Skill have highest impact while Assertiveness Skill has the least impact on Job Satisfaction. Current Interpersonal Communication Skill Level is in moderate level. Organizations arrange Interpersonal Communication skills workshops which including crosscultural and Assertiveness Skill workshops to enhance the skill level.Publication Embargo Expectations and Satisfaction of Employees with Visual Impairment and Blindness: Evidence from Sri Lanka(Faculty of Humanities and Sciences - SLIIT, 2021-03-26) Employees with Visual Impairment and Blindness, Employee Expectations, Job SatisfactionThis study aims to determine the expectations of the blind employees and their job satisfaction. Herzberg’s two factor theory of motivation has been used as foundation for exploring the expectations of employees. This research adopted a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews as the main data collection tool. Visually disabled employees consisting of totally blind and severely blind persons engaged in formal sector in Sri Lanka represented the study population. A sample of fifteen blind employees representing two major employment categories selected through snowball sampling method were interviewed. Content analysis was the main mode of analysis used to examine major themes. The study observed that in comparison to past literature, there is no substantial difference in employees’ key expectations between visually disable and sighted employees. Further, the visually disable employees indicated that key expectations were mostly unmet, except the work environment. The Policy makers and employers need to take into consideration the concerns of blind employees aimed at addressing the issues related to their job satisfaction systematically. The need for public sector to adopt appropriate measures for ensuring safe working environment is highlighted in this study.
