Publication Embargo Sinhala Part of Speech Tagger using Deep Learning Techniques(IEEE, 2022-12-21) Sathsarani, M.W.A.R.; Thalawaththa, T.P.A.B.; Galappaththi, N.K.; Danthanarayana, J.N.; Gamage, ANatural Language Processing (NLP) is a sub-field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that consists of a collection of computational methods motivated by theory for the automated classification and reflection of human languages. The foundation for many sophisticated applications of NLP, including named entity recognition, sentiment analysis, machine translation, in-formation retrieval, and information processing, is laid by Part of Speech (POS) tagging, which is part of the lexical layer of NLP systems. In contrast to English, French, German, and other languages from the same geographical region, the development of high-accuracy, stable POS taggers for the Sinhala language is still in its early stages. Hence, Sinhala is identified as a low-resource language. The main objective of this research is to create a POS tagger for the Sinhala language to solve this issue. An innovative and novel strategy that has never been used with the Sinhala language has been designed. This approach has been suggested specifically to evaluate the possibility of enhancing the accuracy compared to other methodologies. So, deep learning algorithms have been applied in this study, which has a significant impact on improving tagger performance. First, highly accurate individual classifiers for primary POS tags were implemented, and then they were combined into one composite model. As expected, all individual classifiers and the final composite model have achieved a higher accuracy level. Thus, it demonstrates that the proposed solution using deep learning algorithms outperformed other methods, such as rule-based and stochastic, in terms of accuracy.Publication Embargo Cocopal - A Deep Learning Based Intelligent System to Certify and Standardize the Quality of Coconut Based Products(IEEE, 2022-12-09) Gunawardana, K.H.R.; Deshan, M.P.N.; Hemachandra, M.G.S.P.; Ganegoda, D; Hettiarachchi, N. D. K; Wickramarathna, W.A.A.I.; Chandrasiri, S; Wanniarachchi, W.A.P.W; Dilshani, S.H.N; Pemadasa, NUveitis is an inflammatory infection that affects uvea tissue, the middle layer of the eyewall. It can result in swelling or damage to the eye and lead to vision impairments or blindness. Most Uveitis symptoms are associated with many other diseases localized to the eye. Thus, it is hard to determine the responsible symptoms for uveitis. Consequently, early detection of this disease can prevent a perilous situation in the future. The initial motivation behind the design of this mobile application is to help accurately diagnose uveitis with minimal time and effort and thereby minimize the shortage of human specialists in this field. The 'UveaTrack' is a hybrid mobile application that enables the keep tracking of uveitis eye illness and uses machine learning (ML) algorithms, deep learning (DL) architectures, and image processing techniques for developing the system. The 'UveaTrack' application could be able to achieve an average accuracy of more than 85% and had produced overall better results. Furthermore, the 'UveaTrack' application can use as a valuable instructional tool for freshly graduated clinicians, supporting their work with patients and assisting them in making diagnostics conclusions.Publication Embargo Intelligent System for Skin Disease Detection of Dogs with Ontology Based Clinical Information Extraction(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2022-10-29) Rathnayaka, R. H; Gamage, N. D. U; Suhail, S. A. A; Ariyawansa, M. M. T. R.; Dewwiman, H. G. H; Senevirathne, M. D. B. PSoftware Defined Networking (SDN) has gained a significant attention of Cloud Service providers (CSPs) for managing their network infrastructure. With the popularity of services such as virtualized applications and Virtualized Network Functions (VNFs), many organizations are outsourcing their entire data centers to the CSPs. From the perspective of CSPs, effective and efficient cloud resource management plays an important role, in terms of continuing a successful business model. This research focuses on proposing a resource allocation algorithm for a cloud platform where VNFs are offered as a service. It is a tier-based resource allocation approach, where different resource tiers are defined in terms of network bandwidth, processor speed, RAM, vCPUs and number of users. Once the client's request is submitted for VNFs, we have used a deep learning approach (a Keras model which was optimized using Genetic Algorithms) to forecast the most suitable resource tier. Our results show that the proposed resource allocation algorithms can forecasts the most suitable resource tier for given scenario, in the order of seconds, with high accuracy.Publication Embargo English Language Trainer for Non-Native Speakers using Audio Signal Processing, Reinforcement Learning, and Deep Learning(IEEE, 2021-12-02) Jeewantha, H. 'Waste contamination' is a critical issue that affects waste management, and it should be addressed during the garbage collection process. This has led to environmental hazards resulting in health and other social issues. Hence, it is a responsibility of an organization to separate the garbage during the collection process using a suitable technique. In this paper, we are proposing a smart garbage bin kit that automates the separation of garbage collection, which minimizes human error using AI-based technologies. IoT-based devices connected to a smart garbage bin kit guide the user to the correct bin. At the same time, our proposed system can be easily expanded for new special waste categories as well. The other important issue of the current garbage management is improper time management of the garbage removal process in organizations. This happens due to the lack of real-time data on waste bins, and collection is based on the fixed time interval irrespective of the status and location of garbage bins. In the proposed system of SMART Garbage Bin Kit, the group of all interconnected garbage bins is monitored in real-time to identify the optimum collection path considering the location and the status of garbage bins using an optimized algorithm. Hence, the study presented in this paper integrates several intelligent approaches together with IoT based network to build a cutting-edge device, declared as SMART Garbage Bin kit. The prototype system has been built as a part of the research study to demonstrate its feasibility and sustainability.
