Publication Open Access Digitalisation dynamics: Developing a global index for digital pioneers, adapters, and followers(Science Direct, 2025-04-25) Kumara, U; Wijerathna, D; Jayathilaka, RDigitalisation has become a transformative force revamping economies, societies, and governance systems. It has fostered innovation and enhanced global competitiveness in an interconnected world. This study aims to construct a composite index for digitalisation to evaluate global digitalisation levels and categorise nations as digital pioneers, adapters, and followers. The index is developed using a Principal Component based on Factor Analysis, utilising secondary data gathered from World Development Indicators from 2010 to 2022. The study highlights that the United States, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, and Korea dominate the top tier as digital pioneers through adopting emerging fourth-industrial revolution technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, etc. Moreover, nations like Japan, Switzerland, Estonia, Czechia, and Iceland are categorised as digital adapters due to less digital investments in digital technologies and building digital ecosystems. At the same time, Madagascar, Paraguay, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Egypt remain at the bottom of the index as digital followers due to existing digital gap and digital literacy and skills among the population. This evidence provides digitalisation index an effective tool for policymakers and researchers to assess each nation's digitalisation levels and technological readiness, to formulate strategies and policies to enhance digital interaction, foster innovation, and promote economic growth.Publication Open Access Shaping the Future of Business-Digital Transformation for a Sustainable Way Forward(SLIIT Business School, 2023-12-14) de la Campa, A. A.In a technologically driven era, the importance of digital transformation cannot be overstated. It has brought about significant changes in our society, revolutionizing the way we communicate, access information, and even the way we consume goods and services. Irrefutably, it’s embedded in every facet of our lives. Inclusive, accessible, and quality digital connectivity is the foundation of a flourishing economy and an informed society. It stands as the cornerstone of business productivity and resilience across all economic sectors, and is essential for the provision of public services, including education, healthcare, and finance. In 2022, mobile technologies and services have generated 5 percent of the global gross domestic product – adding $5.2 trillion to the economy and supporting 28 million jobs across the wider ecosystem.Publication Open Access Formulation of a National Framework for the Digital Transformation of Sri Lanka’s Public Bus Transport System(University of Moratuwa, 2019) Dunuwila, V. R; Jayakody, A; Weerawardhana, R. T; Pabasara, W. A. S; Ketipearachchi, U. S; Sunas, H. Mformation of Sri Lanka’s public bus transport system would result in the delivery of a quality transportation experience to passengers while minimizing traffic congestion in Colombo as the availability of a high-quality bus transport service would encourage citizens to use public transport more often instead of their own private vehicles. 32 The proposed research contrasts with other researches as it facilitates the development of a Digitized National framework that would be applicable to the entire bus transport system of the country. Furthermore, it would be beneficial if the passengers are provided with an integrated up-to-date solution where information such as the location of the bus, arrival time, bus fare, duration and journey distance is available in real-time. Besides, the study is also significant as this area has not been much focused academically in the Sri Lankan context. The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, National Transport Commission (NTC), Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) and Sri Lanka Private Bus Owners Association will be the main organizations benefitted by this research in addition to passengers travelling in and out of Colombo.Publication Embargo “Trust Pass”-Blockchain-Based Trusted Digital Identity Platform Towards Digital Transformation(IEEE, 2021-12-16) Dissanayake, K; Somarathne, P; Fernando, U; Pathmasiri, D; Liyanapathirana, C; Rupasinghe, LAccording to the United States Census Bureau, by June 2019 world population on earth was 7.5 billion, which exceeds the world population of 7.2 billion as of 2015. Each of these citizens needs to prove their identity to fulfil their day-to-day routine. In this current digital revolution whole world is transforming to digitalization. Therefore, proving someone's identity in the digital space is a must. Being able to track a person digitally can eliminate identity theft and most incidents related to online harassment. With the focus on data privacy and security of citizens, we have proposed “Trust Pass”: Cyber Security Intelligence-based trusted digital identity platform capable of registering and verifying service providers based on document validation neural network model (95.4% accuracy) and allowing citizens to authenticate themselves to service providers with three-factor biometrics authentication with liveness detection neural network model (99.8% accuracy). The requests of the whole system are secured with Cyber Security Threat Intelligence System, and unusual activities of users are monitored through Informative Data Analytics Engine. All the sensitive user data is saved using a blockchain to ensure user privacy while reducing the system's vulnerability.
