Smart Snake Identification System using Video Processing
    (IEEE, 2021-12-07) Deshan, P.D.R.; Pabasara, D. V. H.; Yapa, N. A.; Perera, D. S. R. C. V.; Lunugalage, D; Wijekoon, J. L
There is a common fact in the world that all snakes are venomous and dangerous to humans. This is due to a lack of awareness about snake species among the general public. However, based on the literature, the reality is that only 41 out of 108 reptiles are venomous and dangerous to humans. The challenge is specifically identifying the various snake species instead of considering all of them to be venomous. With the population growth frequency of snakebites reported in hospitals have arisen because of people attempt to harm snakes. This paper proposes an approach to help people in identifying snakes in panic situations using video processing, and then alert the nearest rescuer teams. This study has been carried in Sri Lanka, with a contribution to the scientific world to save both snakes and humans. The implemented system comprises of a mobile application with features including offline real-time snake identification, online real-time snake identification using video processing, manual snake detection, and alert nearest rescuers. The obtained results indicate that this application has an offline snake identification accuracy of 75%-80% and an online snake identification accuracy of 90%- 95%.

Historical Places & Monuments Identification System
    (IEEE, 2020-11-16) Godewithana, N; Jayasena, K; Nagarawaththa, C; Croos, P; Harshanath, B; Alosius, J
Sri Lanka, which is known as “the pearl of the Indian ocean” provides great survival and civilization history dating back to the 3rd century. Most of the archaeological sites are attracted by not only Sri Lankans but also by tourists. When searching for the information about the archaeological sites, there are lack of trusted information sources and smart online platforms. Even though some information is available, no convenient and efficient ways to retrieve them. When trusted information is provided in a user-friendly manner, the value will be added to the Sri Lankan economy. Since the world is driving towards the "E-Era", everything is involved with Information Technology. The proposed system contributes to solve the above problems with Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning concepts. The system is assisted using four major components namely, image identification, community platform, conversational bot, and image visualization. The image Identification component identifies the archaeological sites using image processing techniques. The community platform gathers trusted information from archaeologists and deep learning techniques are used to deliver that content to the users. The artificial intelligence conversational bot is established to communicate and retrieve available information in a convenient manner. The image visualization component is used to provide reality visualization on archaeological sites using the augmented reality techniques. The techniques and the algorithms are evaluated to deliver better performance with brilliant user experience.

    Emergency Patient Identification System
    (IEEE, 2019-12-05) Sandamal, T; Fernando, N; Jayasinghe, I; Xavier, J; Kuruwitaarachchi, N; Rupasinghe, L
Emergency patient identification system (EPIS) will enable the more powerful quality system in the health industry. This research study was conducted to develop an EPI system, which is a complete patient-based medical information recording system. This system will help to identify the patients uniquely. Doctors can get patients' latest situation and can make quick decisions to do the treatments in emergencies. To achieve this approach, authors use the patient's fingerprint, face recognition technology, and eye recognition to identify the person. The patient can view his medical records; system reminds the notifications. The system helps the patients in storing and tracking the diet weight, medications, allergies, health history, fitness, lab results, x-rays, blood pressure, ongoing surgeries, drug reminders, doctor visits, doctor's appointments, images and more. The system helps the user in receiving and sending necessary health-related information to the doctors and hospitals. This system has many unique features; an emergency will help to find nearest hospitals. This can add patient's family member's history so it can help to remind his present medical situation. The main system is working on web interface; another part is offered as a mobile application.
