Abstract

The introduction of smart sensors and intelligent electronic devices allow cyber infrastructure to penetrate different levels of power system. Thus, the effective operation of a cyber-physical power system will be affected by cyber network reliability. The focus of this paper is to analyze the reliability of a cyber-physical power system using the concept of three-layered system approach- Power, Communication and Decision. In this work a new method to compute the cyber reliability of the system is proposed by modelling the interdependency between the communication and decision layer. A case study is done using the radial distribution network in the Roy Billinton Test System to show the possible scenarios that should be considered in the reliability evaluation.
