Publication Open Access Moderating Effect of Business Ecosystem Volatility between Dynamic capabilities and Firm Performance in Sri Lankan Multinational Corporations(ICSDB 2024 and SLIIT Business School, 2024-12-10) De Silva, M.; Withanarachchi, A.The evolution of the theories of Dynamic Capabilities and its importance in paving the path of success for organizations has been studied and researched for decades. Evolving from the resource-based view, theories of Dynamic Capabilities state that organizations should have the ability to adapt to changing environments by integrating, building and reconfiguring internal and external resources. This study focuses on the above-mentioned external environmental conditions and its effect on the Dynamic Capabilities and its relationship to firm performance within the premise of Sri Lankan Multinational Corporations. The dynamic capabilities a firm possesses has paramount importance in sustaining competitiveness. Nonetheless, there are other influential factors in the external environment that dictate the effectiveness of these dynamic capabilities. For instance, the Business Ecosystem Volatility surrounding Organizations can influence the extent to which these dynamic capabilities effect firm performances. Sri Lanka is a unique environment to study this phenomenon due to the emerging market dynamics and multinational activities. This research employs a quantitative approach using surveys sent to Sri Lankan Multinational corporations to collect data. It also contributes to the existing literature in hopes that it will fill certain research gaps prevalent in this area of study. The findings will benefit the management of the Sri Lankan MNCs by providing guidance on how to manoeuvre Dynamic Capabilities under changing environmental conditions and how they can capitalize on their dynamic capabilities properly.Publication Open Access Converter Control for Integration of Renewable Energy into the Grid(SLIIT, Faculty of Engineering, 2022-02-11) Annakkage, UGeneration of electricity using renewable sources of energy will be the only option available to us soon. This may happen within the next two decades. In the meantime, we make the transition form traditional synchronous generator driven power systems to fully renewable energy-based power systems where the energy source is integrated through power electronics converters. We must start thinking in a new way. This presentation will address the technological challenges associated with connecting renewables to the grid through converters and the options available to meet those challenges. While the ability of the converters to respond fast is an obvious advantage, unlike the synchronous generator, it does not have a rotating mass that stores kinetic energy. The short-term overcurrent rating of the converter is much less than that of a synchronous generator unless the converter is overdesigned. Addressing these engineering challenges will be discussed in the presentation.Publication Open Access Sustainability in the Face of Adversity – In Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter(Faculty of Humanities and Sciences (FHS) of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) Malabe, 2020-12-01) Jayasinghe, M.K.The extent to which the four main characters of The Scarlet Letter are capable of enduring hardships in the face of the rigid structure of the Puritan society is studied in this research paper. Endurance being a far-fetched meaning of sustainability; if said differently, this paper is a study of their sustainability. These characters are namely, Hester Prynne, her legal husband Roger Chillingworth, the pastor Arthur Dimmesdale, all of them caught up in a love triangle and Pearl, Hester Prynne’s daughter, born out of wedlock. Using a qualitative research approach, a narrative analysis is conducted where initially the reader is given an insight into the story line of The Scarlet Letter. Ensuing, is a brief description of the Puritan period and its society, the significance of symbolism in the novel, and an examination of the transformation of the four characters throughout the duration of the novel. Hester Prynne, the bearer of the scarlet letter, faces extremely challenging times due to her behavior. A detailed observation of how she gradually and positively integrates into this environment of an unforgiving Bostonian Puritanical society through her fortitude to face up to it, is done in this paper. Finally, the power of endurance of the characters being evaluated, Hester Prynne turns out to be the victor. Thereby, proving that despite great adversity, a female is yet able to endure hardships and show her tenacity in male dominated societies.Publication Embargo Cloud Native Efficient Solution for API Migration Across Environments For Agile Integration Enterprises(2019 1st International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2019-11-05) Jayakody, J. A. D. C. A.; Perera, A. K. A.; Perera, G. L. A. K. N.This paper describes an approach to minimize the effort and time in recreating Application programming interface artifacts and facilitate cross-collaboration and efficient migration across heterogeneous platforms environments without any significant post-migration changes and additional effort. The current software development evolution came up with the Agile concept of developing and delivering products in milestones based approach software development organizations are now maintaining separate environments for development, quality assurance, and production. These environments execute independently and have their deployments and own methods of traffic control. When moving Application programming interface artifacts from one environment to another, all the created APIs need to migrate across different environments to test the exact functionality and behavior of the application. Our motivation is to minimize the effort and time in recreating APIs and facilitate accurate and efficient migration across different environments without any significant post-migration changes and additional effort.Publication Embargo Sustainability in the Face of Adversity – In Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter(Faculty of Humanities and Sciences - SLIIT, 2021-03-26) Jayasinghe, M.K.This paper considers the levels of sustainability or to say it differently the extent to which the four main characters of A Scarlet Letter are able to endure hardships in the face of the rigid structure of the Puritan society which brings upon them, nothing but adversity. These characters are namely, Hester Prynne, her legal husband Roger Chillingworth, the pastor Arthur Dimmesdale, all of them caught up in the love triangle and Pearl, Hester Prynne’s daughter, the outcome of her illicit relationship with the minister. The objective of this research paper is to observe the way in which Hester Prynne, the protagonist, positively and gradually integrates into this environment of an unforgiving Bostonian Puritanical society through her fortitude to face up to the hard times imposed on her as a result of her behaviour. Initially, the reader gets an insight into the story line of The Scarlet Letter, the Puritan period and its society. The significance of symbolism in this novel is also discussed. Secondly, the ambiguity, the transformation and evolution of the four characters throughout the duration of the novel is considered. Finally, by using the weaknesses of the other characters as a foil, the sustainability and endurance of the protagonist is appreciated proving that despite great adversity sustainability in life is yet possible.
