This paper presents a gamified learning platform designed to teach Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and JavaScript (JS) to beginners. The platform incorporates interactive lessons, AI (Artificial Intelligence)-powered coding assistance, and advanced gamification mechanics to enhance learner motivation, engagement, and success. Furthermore, key features include performance-based recommendation engines, virtual coding environments with real-time feedback, and a collaborative platform for peer interactions. The integration of AI provides personalized feedback and adaptive learning paths, while gamified elements such as badges, points, and leaderboards foster competitive and enjoyable experiences. Preliminary findings demonstrate a 40% increase in student engagement metrics and a 35% improvement in coding competency compared to traditional methods. This research lays the groundwork for future expansion to additional programming languages and broader educational applications, with potential implications for transforming computer science education on a scale.Publication Open Access LEARNING STYLES BASED CHECKLIST FOR INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL FEATURES IN E-LEARNING(researchgate.net, 2020-03) Suriyawansa, K; Kodagoda, NE-learning is a rapidly growing industry with a large number of users around the globe. The learning process of e-learning mainly depends on different learning techniques of instructional materials provided in the learning environment. Learning materials are the key component of comprehending information in an e-learning environment. Thus, it is vital to develop e-learning learning materials that are beneficial for the target learners. Different learners have different preferences in learning. Several learning style models have proposed over the years to define the different characteristics of different types of learners. This paper describes seven such learning style models and define learner characteristics focused on each of these models. Then the defined characteristics of each learner style in all seven learning style models are tabularized to emphasize the overlaps of learner characteristics focused in different learning style models. As the next step, a list of unique learner characteristics with reference to learning styles was defined using the information in the table with all learner characteristics. This paper also defines features available in e-learning materials. At present, MOOCs (Massive Open Online Course) can be defined as the key pillar of e-learning. Thus, several MOOCs provided by Coursera platform were analyzed to derive features of e-learning materials or elearning environments. The identified unique learner characteristics of learning styles are then mapped with the list of features in learning materials in an e-learning environment. The final result of this research is a checklist which can be used by e-learning content developers to classify how the instructional materials are effective for the target learners. This checklist defines the satisfied learning styles of all seven learning style models by each identified feature of e-learning instructional materials. It can be used as a guideline for e-learning content developers to determine the features that has to be included in the learning materials to provide an effective learning environment for the target learnersPublication Embargo Innovative, Integrated and Interactive (3I) LMS for Learners and Trainers(2020 2nd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2020-12-10) Fernando, K.J.L.; Jayalath, W.J.D.L.D.D.; Ranasinghe, A.D.R.N.; Bandara, P.K.B.P.S.; De Silva, H.3I-LMS is meant to conquer the insurmountable restraints to class/lecture room education. What are insurmountable restraints to physical classroom education and how does 3I-LMS conquer them. Firstly, the lockdown and physical distancing warranted by the spread of Covid-19. In order to overcome the restraints of the pandemic 3I-LMS would be the obvious answer. 3I-LMS, the medium for delivery and reception, is online for both learners and trainers. Secondly, ineffectiveness resulting in frail in pass rates, fast diminishing memory, faulty study techniques are overcome. 3I-LMS makes studying satisfied, gamified, engaged and enjoying. The outcome would be lasting memory, effective study techniques, higher recall rates leading to improved pass rates. Thirdly, inefficiencies such as slow access to relevant lessons, notes, slow answer evaluation, feedback, clarification to routine questions are also resolved by 3I-LMS. 3I-LMS provides for keyword search, relevant subject wise notes, instant answers for routine questions thus contributing to improved efficiencies. Additionally, 3I-LMS has unique and innovative features to assist assignment completion, emanate milestone alerts, monitoring emotions and time utilization. 3I-LMS provides for utmost security. Thus, the solution deploys face recognition and keystroke dynamics to combat impersonation, copying and unauthorized referencing.Publication Embargo Standalone Application and Chromium Browser Extension-based System for Online Examination Cheating Detection(2021 3rd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2021-12-09) Kariyawasam, S.; Lakshan, A.; Liyanage, A.; Gimhana, K.; Piyawardana, V.; Mallawarachchi, Y.Educational organizations and institutes that provide services to the public use e-learning frequently than before. The incapacity to evaluate the knowledge acquired is a flaw in education. Due to the current situation, traditional evaluation and examinations are not possible. In a developing country like Sri Lanka, the conduct of online examinations has not been efficient, resulting in cheating at examinations due to vulnerabilities resulting from organizational policies and the difficulty to track down candidates who are prone to cheating, therefore use of facial features for candidate verification and to monitor the background interactions the use of audio and video is taken into consideration with the aid of two cameras; the system mounted camera and a wearable camera containing a microphone allowing audio detection. In this research, we suggest using the training data set generated from individuals to undertake a training approach to improve the robustness for background interactions through audio and video to detect the level of cheating of candidates.Publication Embargo Personalized Assistive Learning System for Primary Education(2021 3rd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2021-12-09) Yapa, Y.M.T.S.; Fernando, W.S.I.; Sampath, W.H.M.K.; Kodithuwakku, K.D.D.I.; Samaratunge, U.S.S.; Lunugalage, D.Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, almost all educational institutions, including schools, remain closed. This caused a dramatic change in the educational systems. The sudden shift away from the classroom made the profound transformation of the teacher-centered education system prevail so far; consequently, the education of primary level students has been collapsed.
