    Human Following Robot
(Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, 2023-03-25) Batheegama, M; Mendis, A; Jayawardena, M
The main purpose of this project is to develop a robot that can follow a human to help their activities easy in a well-planned manner. The first implementation of this project is to detect a human and follows the human in a single human environment. The last implementation is to upgrade this into a robot that can detect humans in a busy environment. When designing a robot to work as a human follower it must fulfill some requirements. The issues which are more focused to resolve in here are, the size and mobility while tracking the humans and obstacle detection of the robot. There are many human assistant robots that manufacture small scale in size, but they are not capable of well-assistance and also most of the physically large robots find it hard to assist and handle some activities. Most of the humans following robots are designed for single work, therefore people tend to spend more money on buying robots to fulfill various work. Usually, the components that are used to develop human detection robots are expensive and it is one of the reasons why these types of assistants are expensive. Here, one of the problems which is mobility of the robot while tracking was resolved by developing a more suitable structure, improving the motor-control method, and adding a step-climbing mechanism to the robot. As the robot is manufactured to follow a human, a method to identify a human using image processing is implemented. Also, a method of detecting the position of human is also implemented. And also, the power plan design and all the electronic developments including the power supply unit development and also the power level checker as well has been implemented. Finally in order to make it less complex the circuit has made on PCB.

Ayurvedic Knowledge Sharing Platform with Sinhala Virtual Assistant
    (2019 1st International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2019-12-05) Jayalath, A.D.A.D.S.; Nadeeshan, P.V.D.; Amarawansh, T.G.A.G.D.; Jayasuriya, H.P.; Nawinna, D. P.
Apart from western medicine methods Ayurveda medicinal system is a very huge and better resulting medicinal technique. In these Ayurveda methods identification of indigenous plants to predict the medicines is very important and must do very carefully. Generally main components that we use to identify a plant are leaf, flower, trunk and root etc. Among these features, we use images of leaves and flowers. To do this we are using deep learning based CNN approaches and machine learning and technologies. Those are OpenCV, and Tensorflow classification algorithm. According to the evidences that we gathered from surveys and interviews that we conducted with the responsible parties we could find out that lots of people don’t have much knowledge about indigenous medicinal plants and their Ayurveda treatment methods. To overcome this problem we implemented Ayurveda information centralized chatbot which is able to answer user’s questions relevant to the Ayurveda and indigenous medicinal plants. Chatbot will analyze the question that user asks and will provide answers according to that. Another useful feature of this system is it provides relevant information of Ayurveda doctors. So users can find doctors according to their needs and they are able to rate and give recommendations for the doctors. That will be help others to find doctors more easily and efficiently without any doubt.

(2020 2nd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2020-12-10) Wickramasinghe, M.L.; Wijethunga, H.P.; Yapa, S.R.; Vishwajith, D.M.D.; Samaratunge Arachchillage, U.S.S.; Amarasena, N.
Worldwide educators considered that, automate the evaluation of programming language-based exams is a more challenging task due to its complexity and the diversity of solutions implemented by students. This research investigates and provides insight into the applicability and development of a java based online exam evaluator as a solution to traditional onerous manual exam assessment methodology. The proposed system allows students to take online exams in Java for an implemented source code in a practical exam, automatically reporting the results to the administrator simultaneously. Accordingly, this research examines existing methods, identifies their limitations, and explores the significance of introducing a smart object-oriented program-based exam evaluator as a solution. This method minimizes all human errors and makes the system more efficient. An automated answer checker checks and marks are given as human-counterpart and generate a report with possible suggestions for improvement of the answer scripts and generate a classification report to predict the student’s final exam marks. This software application uses a Knowledge base, Abstract Syntax tree (AST), ANTLR, Image processing, and Machine Learning (ML) as key technologies. The proposed system gains a higher accuracy of 95% as performed by a separate human-counterpart. These results show a high level of accuracy and automate marking is the major emphasis to save human evaluation effort and maximize productivity.

Mobile Medical Assistant and Analytical System for Dengue Patients
(2021 3rd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2021-12-09) Jayampathi, K.T.K.; Jananjaya, M.A.C.; Fernando, E.P.C.; Liyanage, Y.A.; Pemadasa, M.G.N.M.; Gunarathne, G.W.D.A.
Dengue fever is a vector-borne viral disease spread by the mosquito Aedes Aegypti. It is a public health problem, with an estimated 50-500 million infections each year and no effective vaccination. People's hectic schedules may not have enough time to see a doctor every time they have a fever. They may overlook their disease, believing it to be a common ailment. Prior medical assistance for dengue patients with fever to check their conditions reliably is a major problem. There is no easily accessible proper system to identify dengue patients at an early stage. This paper presents a mobile medical assistant and analytical system for dengue patients. With a novel approach, using the most appropriate technologies, the mobile application supports identifying dengue patients using the chatbot, analyzing skin conditions, analyzing blood reports, and analyzing dengue-infected areas' functionalities. The registered users can log in to the system and check their dengue condition. The development is carried out with Natural Language Processing, Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Machine Learning, Image Processing, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), and Android technologies. A mobile application prototype is created and tested, with the possibility of future testing and implementation. The results show effective performances in analyzing dengue conditions.

    (2021 3rd International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC), SLIIT, 2021-12-09) Vedasingha, K. S.; Perera, K. K. M. T.; Hathurusinghe, K. I.; Akalanka, H. W. I.; Amarasena, N.; Dissanayake, N.R.
Railways provide the most convenient and economically beneficial mode of transportation, and it has been the most popular transportation method. According to the past analyzed data, it reveals a considerable number of accidents which occurred at railways, caused damages to not only precious lives but also to the economy. The goal of this research is to minimize the railway accidents by developing “Railway Process Automation System” while ensuring human safety with use of Internet of Things (IoT) and image processing techniques. The system can detect the current location of the train and close the railway gate automatically. As usual, if the system fails to close the rail gate due to any failure, the proposed system can identify the current location and close the rail gate through decision making system by using past data. The proposed system introduces further two features which named as Railway track crack detection and motion detection which play a significant role in reducing the risk of railway accidents. Moreover, the system is capable of detecting rule violations at a level crossing by using sensors. The proposed system is implemented through a prototype and tested with real-world scenarios to gain the above 90% of accuracy.

Geography is an enthralling subject and an additional qualification for day to day life of human beings. Because human beings are socialized and they are usually dealing with geographical related activities. As a person he needs to have a basic sense of where he lives and what is the surrounding environment of his living area. Therefore, to provide the basic geographical knowledge for these persons who are in any age category, standalone e-learning application is introduced as final year research. The E-GEO e-learning application which can be worked in totally offline environment consists of four main components in Map Marking and Validation, Cross Section Drawing Platform with Mountain Type Identifier, Virtual Tours and Speech Recognition and Generation with Geo Master. To accomplish with these features we have used different technologies and mechanisms respectively Geographical Information System (GIS) based Map Marking and Offline Validation, Image Processing, 3D Modeling and Natural Language Processing. The entire application based on e-learning concept called gamification to provide motivational environment for users and could work without internet connectivity. This e-learning application would be achieved high accuracy level at the end of the project duration.
